A Green Dragon

The green dragon consists of a plywood fuselage covered with a fabric skin to which has been sewn scales in various colours of florists ribbon. The picture shows it at the Banbury Hobby Horse festival. The neck and tail are controlled by careful tilting of the body. This one also has light up eyes using leds which were added as the polyester eyes were cast.

The internal structure is constructed from plywood with a bit of light cane to make the skin hang right. The dragon dismantles into four pieces for transport the Head, neck, body and tail. The wings are attached after the skin goes on. You can see in the picture that the neck has three joints that allow it to move from side to side, the tail is similarly jointed.

The green dragon meets the Banbury town crier.
